Moving back from the margin of town life - August 2008

The women living in this bustee in Parbatipur have been ignored by local government efforts to reduce disease and illness. Their family income is mainly from begging and the lack of amenities means they live at the margin.

Their monthly group meetings, with LAMB staff, are their opportunity to share experiences on how to avoid illness.

More importantly LAMB staff are helping them learn how to get access to local government health services. This picture shows one of the first steps towards bringing health and hope to the poorest families.

This work is being funded by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) until the middle of 2009.
